Aon plc - Dividend History
Aon's dividend payout history over the last 20+ years is interesting. After a series of small steps up from 1995, in 2002 Aon dropped the dividend it paid. This corresponds to a period when their share price dropped over 40%, beginning in April 2002. Then, for nearly 10 years between 2003 and 2012, Aon paid a perfectly level dividend of $0.15 per share which was less than they had paid back in 1995. But in 2012 it began increasing the dividend, first in small steps, then larger steps. This corresponds to a period when their free cash flow increased four-fold, and the stock price was rising rapidly. The last dividend payment in October 2016 was $0.33 per share.
